Our History

Adams Community Bank evolved from the combination of two excellent community banks in 2012. Adams Co-Operative Bank, a state-chartered co-operative bank founded in 1895, and South Adams Savings Bank, founded as a state-chartered savings bank in 1869.  The shareholders and depositors of Adams Co-Operative and the Corporators of South Adams Savings voted and approved the merger and the bank's new name on October 19, 2011.

Both Adams Co-Operative Bank and South Adams Savings Bank consider themselves fortunate to have had the same customers for generations.  We have shared in your life moments: the births of children, buying your first home, financing your first new car, sending your kids off to college.  We have been with you side by side not just at the bank, but walking hand-in-hand with our kids on the first day of school, rooting for our team at the athletic field, and shedding a tear at graduations, weddings and funerals.

It’s because we are not just trusted employees of the bank. We are your neighbors, colleagues and friends. We are all a part of this community we love, this community we trust and this community we call home.  It’s our community commitment that will make us stronger and our loyalty to you that will set us apart.

NOTICE OF CHANGES IN TEMPORARY FDIC INSURANCE
COVERAGE FOR TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS

All funds in a "noninterest-bearing transaction account" are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010 through December 31, 2012. This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.

The term "noninterest-bearing transaction account" includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest. It also includes Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTAs”). It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit accounts that may earn interest, NOW accounts and money-market deposit accounts.

For more information about temporary FDIC insurance coverage of transaction accounts, visit
www.fdic.gov.

However, your deposits at Adams Community Bank remain insured in full under The Depositors Insurance Fund.
